The decansho bushi dance, born in the castle town of Sasayama during the Edo period, is a famous folk song festival known throughout Japan. At night, citizens and people from afar join together and dance in multiple circles to the rhythm of dekansho bushi. The fireworks are also wonderful.
On April 24, 2015, the Agency for Cultural Affairs designated “Tamba Sasayama Hometown Memories Passed Down in Folk Songs” a Japan Heritage.
