Inuyama Festival - Aichi

This festival at Haritsuna Shrine has been held since 1635. The 13 floats feature elaborate karakuri dolls, which are dedicated to Haritsuna Shrine. Each float, lit up by 365 lanterns, makes its rounds in the evening. The donden, or turning of the floats, is dramatic and intense as men lift up and turn the floats weighing more than three tons.
It was registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2016.
