Festivals of Japan

Experience traditional culture and seasonal celebrations by attending a Japanese festival!

Big Hina Matsuri - Tokushima

This festival collects and puts on display used dolls that homes across Japan no longer put out for decoration, after holding a memorial service for them.
Starting with an eight-meter high, 100-stepped doll stage, more than 30 thousand dolls are beautifully displayed.
Also, during the event, there will be a performance of the Katsuura Za traditional puppet theatre, which has been passed down in the town for over 200 years, as well as performances on the venue stage, such as singing and dancing. In the nearby Hina-ichi farmer’s market and the Roadside Station Hinanosato Katsuura, specialty products from the town will be sold. This event will let you enjoy every aspect of Katsuura Town.
